Creating a path towards a more satisfying life, one step at a time.

Mindful Matters is a professional psychotherapy practice that has been providing compassionate and effective therapy services in New York City, Westchester, and Connecticut since 2007. Our mission is to help individuals overcome life's challenges and achieve positive change by offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and goals.

As a licensed clinical social worker, our founder, Abby Mullen, LCSW has extensive experience and training in helping clients navigate a wide range of issues, including anxiety, parenting, midlife transitions, career challenges, college, relationships, and physical health. At Mindful Matters, we understand that life's hurdles and opportunities can create stress and anxiety, and we believe that everyone deserves support and guidance to overcome these challenges. We offer individualized therapy services tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.

Our Services

At Mindful Matters, we provide various therapy services designed to help individuals achieve positive change and live fulfilling lives. Here are some of the services we offer:

  • Anxiety Therapy: Anxiety is a common issue that affects many people in our fast-paced, focus-driven society. At Mindful Matters, we provide anxiety therapy services to help individuals gain the tools and insights they need to move beyond their anxious feelings and effectively engage with their lives. We use evidence-based approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) to help clients manage their anxiety and improve their well-being.
  • Parenting Support: Raising children can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging, frustrating, and isolating. At Mindful Matters, we offer parenting support services to help parents find their strength, navigate challenges, and make informed decisions. We work with parents to address specific concerns, such as trouble with school or friends, special needs diagnoses, and behavior changes, and provide guidance and support to help them build healthy and meaningful relationships with their children.
  • Midlife Transitions: Midlife transitions can be challenging, especially for those who are navigating career changes, health diagnoses, social changes, and familial changes. At Mindful Matters, we offer midlife transition services to help individuals find their calling, develop a sense of purpose, and build resilience. We work with clients to explore their values, strengths, and passions and help them create a roadmap for a fulfilling and meaningful life.
  • Career Counseling: Choosing a career or finding a work-life balance can be challenging. At Mindful Matters, we offer career counseling services to help individuals make informed decisions about their careers and achieve a healthy work-life balance. We work with clients to explore their skills, interests, and values and help them find a career path that aligns with their goals and aspirations.
  • Relationship Therapy: Relationships can be a source of joy and fulfillment, but they can also be a source of stress and conflict. At Mindful Matters, we offer relationship therapy services to help individuals build healthy relationships and resolve conflicts. We work with clients to explore their communication patterns, attachment styles, and emotional needs and help them develop the skills they need to build strong and meaningful connections.
  • College Support: College can be an exciting time, but it can also be stressful and overwhelming. At Mindful Matters, we offer college support services to help students navigate the challenges of college life. We work with students to manage stress, develop time management skills, and build resilience.

Our Approach

At Mindful Matters, we use a blend of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and mindfulness (ACT) approaches to help clients achieve their goals. We believe that therapy should be tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences, and we work collaboratively with our clients to develop a personalized treatment plan. Our approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, and respect, and we strive to create a safe and supportive environment for our clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals.
