"He who fears loss has already been beaten" - Jigoro Kano

Midway Judo is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting traditional Kodokan Judo. Our club, established in 1958, is registered with USA Judo, the national governing body for Judo. We extend a warm welcome to people of all ages and skill levels who are interested in learning Judo. Our members include families who enjoy working out together, as well as those interested in improving their physical and mental fitness, and those who aspire to compete.

Our Mission: Traditional Kodokan Judo

At Midway Judo, we uphold the principles of Kodokan Judo, which was founded by Professor Jigoro Kano in 1882. Judo, which means the "gentle way" in Japanese, emphasizes maximum efficiency with minimum effort. As a sport, Judo is accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, providing not only an excellent aerobic and conditioning workout, but also mental discipline. Judo, as practiced today, is based on traditional Jujitsu techniques that have been refined and systemized to form Kodokan Judo. Judo matches may be won by execution of a throwing technique, grappling technique, strangling technique, or joint locking technique.
