Restoring your property, restoring your peace of mind.
Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana (MHANWI) has been serving the Northwest Indiana community since 1957. Our mission is to transform our community through proven programs that educate, empower, and strengthen the way individuals and families function for life. We are committed to anti-racism in all that we do, understanding that racism undermines mental health. Our focus is on early intervention and prevention, believing that by removing barriers early in life, positive mental health and well-being are achieved.
Our Philosophy
At MHANWI, we lead from a foundation built on prevention and empowerment of vulnerable adults and children. We believe in the importance of building Protective Factors, which is a research-driven approach developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy. This two-generation approach supports the overall well-being of children and their families. We are dedicated to overall wellness through personal and family support, while advocating on behalf of those experiencing emotional challenges.
Services Offered
Our degreed professionals provide free programs and services in homes, group settings, and schools. These programs aim to prevent adverse childhood experiences, reduce infant mortality, and build strong families through early childhood development and parent education. We also support those experiencing emotional challenges and those living with a mental disability through advocacy, education, and referral. Our services include programs for parents, such as Parents as Teachers and Empowering Teens as Parents, as well as services for children and adolescents, including Healthy Families and Infant Safe Sleep.
Programs Overview
Our programs are designed to promote positive parenting and support parents with the challenges of raising children in today's world. We offer a range of preventative programs for parents and children beginning at the very early stages of life, including prenatal and early childhood support. These programs include Baby & Me - Tobacco Free, I'm Thumbody, Special Mothers and Babies, Dad Matters, and Bridging The Gap. We also have an Open Door Social Club for socialization and support.
Leadership & Staff
Our leadership and staff are dedicated to the mission of MHANWI. They work tirelessly to ensure that our programs and services are effective in supporting the mental health and well-being of our community.
