Szymanski Studios

At Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts, we are dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for students of all ages and skill levels to learn and grow through music. Our mission is to inspire a love of music and the performing arts in our students, while fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

Our History

The school was founded in 2000 by voice teacher Sharon Szymanski, who recognized a growing need for quality music instruction in Chapel Hill. With the help of additional teachers, we quickly grew to become a comprehensive music school offering lessons in voice, piano, strings, percussion, brass, woodwinds, and more. Today, we have a faculty of nearly 30 teachers and serve hundreds of students each year.

Personalized Instruction

At CHSMA, we believe that everyone can learn to play or sing music, regardless of perceived skill level, experience, or age. Our faculty of experienced and qualified teachers are dedicated to providing personalized instruction, adapting their teaching style to meet the unique needs and goals of each student. Our teachers are proud alumni of prestigious institutions such as Columbia University, Oberlin Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Northwestern University, Meredith College, and UNC, and are fluent in multiple languages.

Our Facility

Our two-story school is professionally outfitted and designed to provide a comfortable and inspiring learning environment. Our faculty includes teachers who can instruct in Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, and Greek, and we take pride in our ability to accommodate students from diverse backgrounds. Our facilities include a large classroom, 16 studios for private lessons, and ample free parking.
