Creative Music Instruction

At Creative Music Instruction, our mission is to share the joy of playing music with individuals and families, and to further enrich the wonderful community we serve. For over 23 years, we have offered high-quality music instruction to members of our community. Our instructors bring experience and commitment to CMI, and we take seriously our roles as teachers and mentors.

Our Story

In 1996, Chris Seagle and I were teaching music lessons in the back rooms of what was then named The Music Loft. Chris envisioned a larger teaching facility and worked hard to realize that vision. He opened the doors of the new studio in March of 1997, and 23 years later, this community still benefits from his efforts. Throughout the years, we have continued to grow and evolve, but our dedication to providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which to learn has remained the same.

Our Qualities

At CMI, we embody kindness, patience, and encouragement. These are the qualities with which our instructors approach the study and appreciation of music. We consider seriously our responsibility as educators and mentors. Each student has particular goals and musical preferences, and specific ways in which they learn most effectively. Instructors at CMI tailor teaching methods to the individual, and emphasize to all students the importance of sound musicianship and respect for the learning process.

Our Services

We offer private lessons in a variety of instruments, including Drum Set/Percussion, Guitar, Vocal, Piano/Keyboard, and Songwriting. Our experienced instructors bring expertise, warmth, and energy to their teaching, making this studio a special place. Whether you're a beginner or advanced musician, our goal is to help you achieve your musical goals in a supportive and relaxed environment.

Our Calendar

We understand that life can be busy, and that's why we provide a flexible schedule of lesson times to accommodate your needs. Below are the dates of note for the current year:

• January 15 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday)
• March 31 - April 6 (Spring Break)
• May 24 - May 30 (Memorial Day Break)
• July 1 - July 7 (July 4th Summer Break)
• August 30 - September 2 (Labor Day Holiday)
• October 31 (Halloween)
• November 25 - December 2 (Thanksgiving Holiday)
• Over Christmas and New Years (TBD by CH/Carrboro City Schools) - Winter Break

Make-up weeks are scheduled for February 23-29, June 5-11, and October 24-30.

Meet Our Instructors

Our instructors are not only experts in their field but also passionate about teaching. Meet Brady Kennedy, our newest addition to the CMI team. Brady is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where he earned a BS in Music Performance from the Hayes School of Music. He's had a teaching practice in Boone for several years and now brings his experience and considerable talent to the Triangle area. We're thrilled to welcome him to CMI.
