Our Story

Our journey began in 1983 when Dr. Frank Pittman, NCTM, a dedicated piano performance major at UNC-Chapel Hill, recognized a passion for sharing his love of music with others.

He first found his calling teaching fellow students, and the immense satisfaction of guiding their musical growth solidified his desire to dedicate his career to nurturing musical talent. That same year, Dr. Pittman established the Pittman Music Studio, embarking on a lifetime commitment to teaching piano. Over the ensuing decades, the studio thrived, serving students of all ages and abilities.

As the demand for piano instruction in Durham grew, Dr. Pittman sought a way to expand his reach and provide an even more comprehensive musical experience. Born from this vision, the Piano Academy of North Carolina (PANC) emerged as a dedicated institution committed to delivering exceptional piano education. We built a team of talented and passionate instructors who share our dedication to helping students unlock their musical potential.
