Manhattan High School for Girls, in partnership with the parent body, is dedicated to the holistic development of each student. We strive to cultivate in our students the three pillars of excellence - spiritual, intellectual, and social - to prepare them for success in their current and future roles and foster their growth into happy, self-fulfilled individuals.
Spiritual Development
At the heart of our mission is the spiritual development of our students. We aim to instill in them a love for Hashem, a devotion to a Torah lifestyle, and adherence to Halacha. We are committed to cultivating within each student a sense of pride in her role as a Jewish woman and in her heritage. Our Judaic programs promote responsibility to the Klal, a love for Eretz Yisrael, and introspective character development.
Intellectual Development
Our commitment to intellectual development is equally strong. We emphasize textual comprehension accompanied by critical analysis and strive to hone proficiency in oral, written, technological, and artistic expression of understanding. Our academic programs link content learning to life application, building the esteem, passion, and discipline requisite for life-long learning. We seek to create an environment that fosters a love for learning and where students are challenged to reach their full academic potential.
Social Development
At MHS, we believe that social development is just as important as academic and spiritual development. We foster self-respect and respect for other points of view. We encourage civic responsibility by requiring leadership positions to develop self-assurance borne of self-awareness. Our guidance programs build students' resilience and stamina in the face of challenges and sharpen their decision-making skills.
Academic Programs
We offer a wide range of academic programs that cater to the varied interests and abilities of our students. Our curriculum is designed to be both challenging and engaging, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. We offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses, honors courses, and a wide range of electives in subjects such as science, mathematics, language arts, social studies, art, music, and technology.
Judaic Studies
Our Judaic studies program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of Jewish history, culture, and traditions. We offer courses in Tanach, Talmud, Jewish law, philosophy, and ethics. Our program is designed to inspire a lifelong love of learning and a commitment to Jewish values and practices.
Extracurricular Activities
We offer a wide range of extracurricular activities that cater to the varied interests and talents of our students. These activities include sports teams, drama club, music ensembles, art clubs, robotics club, and debate team. We believe that extracurricular activities provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships.
Conclusion
At Manhattan High School for Girls, we are dedicated to providing our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in all areas of life. We believe that spiritual, intellectual, and social development are all essential components of a quality education. Our mission is to inspire our students to become confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals who are prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
