Our Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a valuable opportunity for BSA students to explore their interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills, and engage in learning experiences that help develop their social, civic, leadership, and work experience skills. The program includes career exploration, paid project-based learning, work experiences, and earning money.
Why BSA?
Broome Street Academy is a unique institution that offers a comprehensive education that addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. Our on-site SUNY-authorized charter high school sets aside 50% of the seats in its incoming 9th-grade class for students who are transitionally housed or in foster care and offers a wide range of integrated support in collaboration with The Door's programs. Our success is built on supporting each student in building strong academic skills while receiving a mixture of academic and social support.
College Success
At BSA, we believe that college is within reach for every student. In 2022, 90% of our graduates went on to college, including many top-tier schools. Our students have received prestigious awards and scholarships, and we are proud to have had our first Posse Scholar graduate.
Community Involvement
We believe that educating students is not just about academics, but also about developing the whole person. That's why we offer a range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, student government, and community service. Our campus is also home to a vibrant arts program, which provides students with opportunities to express themselves creatively and build confidence through performance.
