Friendship, Seamanship, and Time Well Spent
Welcome to Liberty Yacht Club, located at Liberty Landing Marina directly across the Hudson River from Manhattan's World Financial Center. Founded in March 1998 as a non-profit organization, our mission is to encourage and promote sailing, motor boating, seamanship, and community in the lower Hudson River and greater New York Harbor area. Our motto, "Friendship, Seamanship, and Time Well Spent, " reflects our commitment to fostering a sense of camaraderie among members while promoting the values of seamanship.
As a yacht club in the truest sense, we offer a unique opportunity for members to become involved in the management of the club through our officer positions. We also enjoy reciprocity with other clubs from Raritan Bay to St. Croix, ensuring a diverse range of sailing and social experiences. From weekly and annual regattas to cruises, educational events, and fantastic parties, there's always something happening at LYC. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just discovering the joys of boating, we invite you to join us and become a part of our vibrant community.
Club Officers
At the helm of our club are dedicated individuals who are passionate about sailing and committed to the well-being of our community. Our Commodore, Caroline Kornutik, is a registered nurse with extensive leadership experience, who enjoys cruising and racing with her husband Marc. Vice Commodore David Matthew Spence, a seasoned sailor, has been instrumental in the club's growth and development. Both Caroline and David embody the spirit of seamanship and friendship that defines our club.
