History

Founded in 1910 as the Hudson Park Yacht Club, the club has a rich history and has undergone many changes over the years. Initially located on the mainland, the club leased Echo Island in 1914 from Edward M. Schaefer, owner of the Schaefer Beer Company. The island was purchased from the Schaefer family in 1923, and the name was changed to Echo Bay Yacht Club in 1929.

The original clubhouse, the Solarium, was built in the mid-to-late 1800s and was utilized as the original clubhouse. The building still stands today and is used for events and rentals. The Pavilion was built in 1926 and serves as the main clubhouse, hosting many large events over the years. The island has withstood many storms over the years and continues to reinvent itself, providing a tranquil and peaceful retreat for members.
