Hook Mountain Yacht Club (HMYC) is a small, tight-knit boat club located in Nyack, NY. Our members come from all over the globe, creating a unique blend of experienced and friendly individuals who share a passion for boating. Nestled on the west shore of the Hudson River, HMYC enjoys an idyllic location with views that stretch north to Hook Mountain and south to the Tappan Zee Bridge. Our club offers a serene, quiet section of the river that is protected from all but northeast winds, providing a peaceful boating experience.

As a working membership club, we take pride in doing most of the maintenance and upkeep ourselves. However, for those who are not interested in the work aspect, we offer a limited number of non-working memberships for an additional fee. Our facility includes a bulkheaded access landing of 8000 sq. ft. with a multi-use structure consisting of bathrooms, a workshop, a small gathering space, and storage. There is also an area for social gatherings outside that doubles as winter storage for trailerable boats during the off-season. Additionally, we feature an over-the-water social space of 7000 sq. ft. that includes a pavilion-type shelter.

Our mooring field can handle deep draft boats with plenty of room for swing. Our fleet ranges from 20 - 47 feet, and we offer an easily accessible dock for pick up and drop off. Our dinghy docks are protected from all directions, providing a quick dry ride to one's boat. We also offer a limited number of dock slips with direct access to your boat.

Facilities

HMYC offers a range of facilities for use by club members, including:

  • Grounds: Deep-water moorings a short row away, a new on-the-water pavilion deck with full river views and an observation platform, a deep-water dock for passenger boarding, an on-shore storage shed, kayak storage, a work barge for mooring maintenance, a club dinghy for transit to your boat, dockside slips for small boats, floating dinghy docks and dinghy racks for off-season storage, and off-street parking (limited).
  • Docks: HMYC offers modern, well-maintained floating docks on the North side of the club for loading/unloading and guest pick-up. Our docks are easily accessible by ramp or ladder, ensuring safe and easy access for your guests. We maintain three large dinghy docks, with the East dock reserved for inflatable dinghies and the West dock reserved for hard shell dinghies. More dinghy docks are slated to be deployed as our membership grows.
  • Mooring and Slips: HMYC offers deep water moorings capable of holding large yachts. Our outside moorings average a depth of 12 ft MLW, while the inside moorings average a depth of 6 ft MLW. Our mooring committee takes pride in having an extremely well-maintained and organized mooring field, with ground tackle sizing and maintenance policies that exceed those of most other clubs and marinas.

Membership

HMYC is a member-run club open to sailboats, powerboats, and kayaks. We have deep water moorings, slips for powerboats, and kayak storage. Our membership is capped at 125 members, ensuring a close-knit community of boaters. Membership includes access to all club facilities, social events, and the opportunity to participate in club activities.

We offer a range of membership options to suit your needs, including working and non-working memberships. Our membership year runs from April 1st to March 31st, and we offer a limited number of new memberships each year. We are currently accepting applications for 2024.
