At Westbound & Down, we are a brewery with deep Colorado roots, dedicated to crafting high-quality, expertly balanced beers that capture the essence of the American West. Since our establishment in 2015, we have been elevating adventure through our passion for brewing and our commitment to excellence.

Our story began with a simple vision: to create a place where beer enthusiasts could come together and enjoy great brews in a welcoming environment. Over the years, we have grown into a successful brewery with multiple locations across Colorado, including our flagship taproom in Idaho Springs, our pizzeria and taproom in Lafayette, our satellite taproom in Downtown Denver, and our upcoming location in Basalt.

Our Beer

At Westbound & Down, we take pride in our diverse range of beers that cater to all tastes and preferences. From our award-winning Colorado Pale Ale, which offers a modern West Coast pale ale experience with a balanced blend of Strata, Simcoe, Citra, and Mosaic hops, to our Spirit of the West IPA, which packs flavors and aromas of pineapple, strawberry, tangerine, and cantaloupe, we have something for everyone.

Awards and Recognition

Our dedication to quality and passion for brewing have not gone unnoticed. We have received numerous awards and recognition for our beers, including silver medals at the World Beer Cup for our Colorado Pale Ale and Spirit of the West IPA, as well as gold and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival for our Westbound Select IPA and The Coloradan cream ale.

In addition to our beer awards, we were also recognized as the Midsize Brewpub of the Year at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival, a testament to our commitment to excellence in all aspects of our business, from food and service to design and beer.

Our Locations

We have multiple locations across Colorado, each offering a unique experience and atmosphere. Our Idaho Springs location is a modern brewpub with elevated comfort food, making it a must-stop on your way to or from mountain adventures. Our Lafayette location is a pizzeria and taproom that also serves as our primary production and packaging facility. Our Downtown Denver location is a satellite taproom with a curated taplist in an inviting alcove. And soon, we will be opening a new location in Basalt, bringing our passion for brewing to another beautiful part of Colorado.

Our Partnerships and Collaborations

We believe in the power of collaboration and community, which is why we have partnered with Aspen Brewing Company to open Westy's Tap & Tavern, a hopped-up pop-up in Aspen, Colorado. This radically rewound pop-up serves up some of our favorite brews alongside delicious tavern-style pizza, offering a unique and fun experience for beer enthusiasts.
