Welcome to The Food Shack, your local destination for delicious street food favorites with a unique twist! Inspired by the Hawaiian plate lunch, we opened our doors in 2010 with a mission to bring fresh and exciting ideas to Aquidneck Island. In 2016, we rebranded as Flat Waves Food Shack, expanding our menu to include dishes inspired by beach and surf destinations around the world. Today, we continue to evolve and innovate as The Food Shack, offering a relaxed dining experience that features locally sourced ingredients, original recipes, and a variety of street food favorites.

Meet the Team

Our team is the heart and soul of The Food Shack. Led by owner and founder Will Burgess, we are a passionate group of food lovers who take pride in everything we do. From the kitchen to the front of the house, we are dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality and a dining experience that goes "beyond one meal".

• Will Burgess (Owner/Founder): With a passion for surf travel and a love for delicious food, Will founded The Food Shack in 2010. His favorite dish is whatever just came out of the smoker.
• Sabrina (Director of Marketing & Events): Sabrina's love for hiking and cooking is reflected in her dedication to promoting The Food Shack and creating memorable events for our guests. Her favorite dishes are the Carne Asada Burrito and Pitaya Bowls.
• Yana (Kitchen Manager): Yana's creativity and attention to detail shines in her role as Kitchen Manager. Her favorite dish is the Short Rib Taco.
• Fitz (Production Manager): Fitz's leadership and organizational skills keep The Food Shack running smoothly.

Sustainability

We are committed to protecting the environment and reducing our carbon footprint. All of our packaging products are 100% compostable, including the "plastic" looking lids which are actually made from a corn-starch based bioplastic. We are proud to utilize eco-friendly products that are safe for our guests and the planet.

We are excited to offer catering services through our sister company, Island Time Catering Co. Whether you're planning a corporate event, wedding, or backyard barbecue, our team is here to help you create a memorable experience for you and your guests.
