At Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, we believe that elegant wines start in the vineyard and are guided into perfection by a skilled, passionate, and committed winemaking team. Our journey began over 29 years ago when Steve Dooley, our founder, decided to turn his passion for winemaking into a career. Steve, who hails from the upper Midwest, pursued his dream by earning a degree in Enology from the University of California, Davis. He then spent ten years making wine in the Napa Valley, followed by two harvests in South Africa and Australia. After returning to the United States, Steve worked for seven years in the Edna Valley before launching Stephen Ross in 1994.

Steve's journey has been a remarkable one, marked by hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. He was joined by his wife, Paula Dooley, who brought her own set of skills to the table. With her background in finance and accounting, Paula has been instrumental in handling the business side of the winery, allowing Steve to focus on what he does best - making exceptional wines.

Our Team

Our team at Stephen Ross Wine Cellars is comprised of passionate individuals who share our commitment to producing high-quality wines. Steve and Paula Dooley are at the helm, with Steve overseeing all aspects of winemaking and Paula managing the business side of the operation. Joining them is Garrett Monk, our cellar master, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team. With his degree in Wine and Viticulture from Cal Poly, Garrett has worked in various regions, including the Barossa Valley in Australia, the West Sonoma Coast, and Paso Robles.

Our Vineyards

At Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, we are dedicated to producing small production wines with an emphasis on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our wines have garnered acclaim throughout the industry, thanks to our commitment to using only the finest grapes from our carefully selected vineyards. We believe that the best wines are those that are made with passion and care, which is why we take the time to ensure that every bottle that leaves our cellar meets our high standards of quality and excellence.

Membership & Wine Club

We offer several membership options for those who want to be a part of the Stephen Ross family. Our wine club members enjoy access to exclusive wines, special discounts, and invitations to private events. For those who want to take their involvement to the next level, we offer our Adopt-a-Barrel program, which allows members to adopt a specific barrel of wine and follow its progress from grape to glass.

Visit & Events

Our tasting room is open on weekends and offers seated and bar wine tastings. We encourage reservations, but we also accommodate walk-ins. Visitors can enjoy our beautiful vineyard views while sipping on some of our finest wines. We also host various events throughout the year, including wine and food pairings, vineyard tours, and special release parties. These events provide a unique opportunity for our guests to experience the magic of Stephen Ross Wine Cellars firsthand.
