Zachary's Restaurant has been open for breakfast and lunch on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz since 1985. The favorite of locals, students, and visitors alike, our menu is built on an "everything homemade" philosophy that starts with our three styles of house-made bread (oatmeal-molasses, sour white, and dark rye) and our unique home-fries; specialties include our original "Mike's Mess", one-of-a-kind sourdough pancakes (our sour starter is purported to date back to the Alaskan Gold Rush -ask for the story!), coffee cakes from our bakery, and daily omelet specials. Our burgers are served on our house-made sourdough buns; our sandwiches on your choice of our breads; and our chilis are from scratch. Our hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. (closed Mondays). We serve both breakfast and lunch all day, and our entire menu is available for take-out as well.
The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with reviewers praising the excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
While parking is mentioned as a potential issue, it's not a major criticism of the establishment.
