Our History and Philosophy

Baldwinsville Nursery School is a non-profit, nonsectarian school for Pre-Kindergarten children, sponsored by the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church. We believe that each child is unique and does his/her "work" (play) in his/her own way and at his/her own pace. Our philosophy is centered around the idea that children learn best when interested and actively involved. We welcome children of all backgrounds and faiths and strive to create a positive first step in a lifelong journey for a love of learning.

Program Goals

Our daily activities are designed to encourage each child to have fun and learn through play, widen their circle of trusted adult caregivers, be curious, creative, and imaginative, explore and experiment, develop good communication skills, strengthen and coordinate small and large muscles, become more independent and responsible, grow in awareness of self and others, and develop positive attitudes towards self and others in the school and community. We also aim to provide a foundation of basic Christian values.

Parent Involvement

We believe that parents are an integral part of their child's preschool experience. We encourage and expect your communication and welcome your interest, input, and participation. This includes keeping informed by reading newsletters and notices, providing necessary supplies, donating or loaning needed items, sharing your talent and skills, participating in field trips, attending family events, and borrowing reading materials from our parent library. We also schedule parent-teacher conferences and welcome additional conferences at your request.

Class Offerings

We offer a variety of classes for children aged 2 to 4 years old. Our classes include the LITTLE STARS, LITTLE LIGHTNING BOLTS, and LITTLE COMETS classes for 2-year-olds; the RAINBOW and SKY classes for 3-year-olds; and the SUNSHINE and SEASHORE classes for 4-year-olds. Each class is designed to provide a developmentally appropriate program with a focus on exploration, creativity, and socialization.
