Settled body. Resilient heart. Curious mind.

At My Approach Somatic Psychotherapy, we believe that the body holds the key to unlocking our deepest wounds and promoting healing. As a Somatic Psychotherapist, I, Amy Ruben, LMFT, have dedicated my career to helping individuals develop a deeper connection with their bodies and emotions. Through a unique blend of somatic and experiential methods, I work with clients to restore balance between their mind, body, and spirit.

About Me

As a therapist, I have always been passionate about helping others discover their own innate wisdom and resilience. My own journey with chronic pain led me to explore various somatic and spiritual practices, which I now incorporate into my therapeutic approach. Through my clinical training at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), I have had the privilege of working with diverse communities, including those affected by trauma and systems of oppression.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is deeply relational and combines traditional talk therapy with somatic and experiential methods. I believe that the body holds a profound wisdom that can guide us towards healing and transformation. Through mindful and compassionate exploration, I help clients cultivate awareness of their bodily sensations, emotions, and thoughts, allowing them to release pent-up energies and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

My Services

At My Approach Somatic Psychotherapy, I offer a range of services designed to support individuals on their unique healing journeys. These services include:

  • 1:1 Therapy: Personalized sessions tailored to each client's unique needs and goals
  • New Parent Support: Specialized support for new parents navigating the challenges of parenthood
  • More Offerings: Additional resources and workshops designed to support personal growth and development

What to Expect

When working with me, you can expect a safe, warm, and nurturing environment that fosters deep connection and trust. I am emotionally engaged and actively listen to your experiences, incorporating somatic and experiential methods to support your growth and healing.

Trainings and Certifications

Throughout my career, I have continued to expand my skills and knowledge by participating in various trainings and certifications, including EMDR Levels 1 and 2, Foundations of Polyvagal Informed Practice, Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies Certificate, and Bringing Baby Home Educator Training.

Will We Be a Good Fit?

I believe that the most important factor in choosing a therapist is finding someone with whom you feel comfortable and supported. If you are looking for a therapist who is emotionally engaged, nurturing, and direct, I invite you to connect with me to learn more about how I work.
