Life is Short. You Might As Well Live it With Really Great Hair.
Soul Harmony Psychotherapy is a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where individuals and families can embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I, Kendra F. Dunlap, MFC#53772, am dedicated to providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed therapy that centers on the impact of trauma on one's ability to cope and navigate the world. I am passionate about working with BIPOC and marginalized communities, as well as individuals and families from all backgrounds, to destigmatize mental health and foster wellness.
Individual Therapy for Teens and Adults
I provide individual psychotherapy for teens (16 years of age and up) and adults who are looking for a safe and supportive space to explore and address issues related to intersectional oppressions, identity exploration, trauma exploration, managing anxiety and stress, depression reduction, relational and attachment struggles, managing imposter syndrome, improving self-esteem, and increasing communication skills. My strength-based and collaborative approach allows me to tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual's specific needs and concerns.
Family Therapy
In family therapy, I work collaboratively with parents/caregivers and their children to ensure that skills learned in therapy can be integrated into the home environment. I strive to empower and support both parents and children in navigating the developmental tasks of adolescence, which can be a challenging time for both parties. By working together, we can foster strong relationships and connections that serve as a foundation for healing, connection, and growth.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
My trauma-informed therapy recognizes the profound impact that trauma can have on an individual's ability to cope and navigate the world. Trauma can manifest in various ways, including personality traits in individuals, family traits in families, and cultural patterns in communities. Through a trauma-informed lens, I work with clients to identify patterns in their lives that no longer serve them and create a sense of shame and disconnection from themselves and others.
Therapeutic Approach
I integrate various concepts and techniques into my therapeutic work, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment/relational, CBT, Sensorimotor, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapies. These approaches allow me to tailor my approach to each individual's specific needs and concerns, creating a unique and personalized therapeutic experience.
Online Therapy
To support clients residing in the State of California, I provide online therapy, making mental health services more accessible and convenient for those who may not be able to attend in-person sessions.
Getting Started
I understand that the decision to enter therapy can be one of courage and vulnerability. I believe that everyone deserves a fulfilling, enriching, and empowered life that allows for healing, connection, and relationship. I look forward to partnering with you in identifying your personal goals and working together on your journey of exploration and transformation.
