Our Story

The Gulf Stream Bar & Grille is a unique dining experience that offers a combination of stunning views, eclectic menu items, and a friendly atmosphere. Located at the Safe Harbor Marina / New England Boatworks in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, our restaurant boasts a spectacular setting with water views and a dog-friendly outdoor deck and bar. With a history dating back to 1942 as part of the US Navy's PT-Boat Training Center at Melville, our Quonset Hut was converted into a restaurant over 30 years ago and began operation as The Gulf Stream Bar & Grille in May 2016.

Our Cuisine

Our creative menu features coastal cooking with a New England Twist, taking delicious recipes from regions along the Gulf Stream and adding our own New England style to create a unique dining experience. We use only the highest quality products, locally sourced and organic, whenever possible. All of our dishes are house-made with the freshest ingredients and we proudly support our local farmers and fishermen.

Our menu is designed to be shared with friends and family, offering a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes and dietary needs. From our Raw Bar to our Booze Menu, we have something for everyone. And don't forget to save room for dessert - our Pecan Pie is a fan favorite!

Private Events

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to enjoy a meal with friends and family, our restaurant offers private event spaces for parties of all sizes. Our experienced staff will work with you to customize a menu and ensure that your event is a memorable one.

We are open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, and Sunday from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm. We are located at 1 Lagoon Rd, Portsmouth, RI 02871. We also offer dockside delivery for our boating customers and are pleased to offer transient dockage at Safe Harbor Marina at New England Boatworks.
