Modern Snack Bar, a beloved landmark on the North Fork, has been serving up delectable home-cooked meals since 1950. Founded by John & Wanda Wittmeier, the restaurant began as a humble snack bar with a grill, six counter seats, and a pass-through window to a few stools outside. Today, it has grown into a full-service restaurant that can seat up to 125 guests, yet still retains its original charm and warmth.
Our Food
At Modern Snack Bar, we pride ourselves on our "great home cooking." Our menu offers a wide variety of dishes, from classic burgers and sandwiches to mouth-watering seafood and roasted meats. We use only the freshest ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. Our Bay Scallops, for example, are as sweet as candy and are a local favorite. Our Roasted Long Island Duck is another must-try, fresh from Crescent Farm and cooked to perfection. And don't forget to save room for dessert - our fresh-baked pies are a crowd-pleaser.
