Step by Step Dance Academy has been offering premiere dance instruction to Kenosha for over 30 years, helping countless students of all ages to grow and flourish as dancers. Our students love learning new dance styles like Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and more!

At the young age of 3, our founder Amy Slater began her journey in dance. Formal ballet and tap has always been her passion. Amy started at a local studio in Kenosha and by her teen years she was studying at Giordano's in Evanston, IL and Milwaukee, WI. Amy began performing in Off-Broadway productions such as 42nd Street and Cabaret. As a competitive dancer in her teen years, Amy and her partner were National champions in the Showstopper duet category. As a 17-year-old, Amy was fortunate to spend time at the Broadway Dance Center in New York. Although Amy's passion for dance has never changed, her love for passing on the tradition and discipline of dance has become her focus. Amy began student teaching by the age of 12 and fully teaching her own classes by the time she was 14. Through many years of working with children and watching their love for dance grow, Amy realized it was time to branch out and start a studio and create a safe place to learn the dedication it takes to be the best you can be. Amy loves to watch and be a part of so many kids growing as both people and dancers. Amy is grateful for every day that she can spend engaging and helping form beautiful dancers inside and out.

Katie Larson, Bailey Lundy, Robin Rossmann, and Samantha Hodge are just a few of our talented instructors. Each one of them has their own unique style and approach to teaching, ensuring that every student receives personalized attention and guidance.
