The Carl B. Metoyer Center for Family Counseling, CBMCFFC, is a non-profit community-based 501(c)3 counseling agency that has been serving youth and their families in East Oakland since 1976. Our mission is to provide a range of culturally sensitive mental health services to youth and their families that include prevention, early intervention, clinical case management, and collaboration with support services in the community.
Our History
CBMCFFC was founded in response to the need for an alternative to incarceration for youth who present with acting out behavior, chronic truancy, and running away from home. Our agency addressed this need with a specialized counseling program for those youth and their families.
Our Staff
Our clinical staff is comprised of licensed clinicians, pre-licensed counselors, and practicum trainees. Our clinical staff have a wide range of clinical experience, degrees, and cultural competencies. We primarily offer family counseling for families with youth between the ages of 7 to 18 years old. Our counseling services are designed to support the well-being and resilience of families, and we strive to empower our clients to overcome the challenges they face.
Our Services
CBMCFFC offers a range of services to support the mental health and well-being of youth and their families. These services include:
- Family Counseling: Our clinical staff provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions to support the emotional and behavioral health of youth and their families.
- Case Management: Our case managers work closely with clients to identify their unique needs and develop personalized plans to address their challenges.
- Crisis Intervention: Our on-call crisis intervention counselors are available 24/7 to provide emotional support and crisis intervention services to families in crisis.
- Truancy Mediation: Our truancy mediation services aim to address issues surrounding school truancy and provide families with the support they need to get their children back on track.
- Community Outreach: We engage in community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and the services we offer.
