Mixed Reviews on Tobin's Martial Arts
Criticism of Business Practices
One reviewer had a negative experience with Tobin's Martial Arts, citing that they were misled into a contract and charged a fee for a private lesson without being informed. The reviewer, who has 24 years of martial arts experience, felt that the school was more interested in making a sale than in teaching genuine martial arts. They also criticized the school's emphasis on flashy techniques and lack of focus on actual self-defense.
Doubts about Authenticity
The same reviewer questioned the authenticity of Tobin's Martial Arts, pointing out that it is not a traditional Japanese Karate school, but rather a "hybrid" or "American" Karate school with no governing organization to ensure the quality of instructors. They emphasized that real Karate comes from Japan, particularly Okinawa, and that legitimate schools do not have contracts.
Praise for Quality of Instruction
On the other hand, another reviewer had a very positive experience with Tobin's Martial Arts, praising the school's high-quality instruction and emphasis on respect, discipline, and safety. They noted that the black belts at the school looked like genuine black belts, and that the instructors took a strict but caring approach to teaching. They also mentioned that the school had world champion martial arts instructors and students, indicating that they must be doing something right.
