Capitol Movement is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to making dance accessible and affordable in the DC metropolitan area since 2005. Our mission is to "build better lives through dance, " and we believe that dance has the power to unite people from all walks of life.
Our Programs
At Capitol Movement, we offer a variety of programs to cater to different ages and skill levels. Our programs include:
CMI Kidz: Our youth dance programs designed for children and teenagers aged 5-17. These programs provide elite level training and performance opportunities, helping to foster creativity and produce a crop of well-seasoned professionals prepared to work in the dance industry.
CMI Apprentices: Our pre-professional program for teenagers aged 12-17, designed to provide a transition from youth programs to professional training.
CMI Adults: Our adult dance program tailored to experienced dancers aged 18 and above, offering a creative outlet for dance passion and empowering individuals through artistry.
CMI Company: Our professional adult dance company, featuring a diverse selection of dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop.
Outreach Program: Our outreach program brings dance education to schools and community partners in need of arts education programming, providing quality dance instruction to underprivileged communities.
