Maryland Youth Ballet

At Maryland Youth Ballet (MYB), we are dedicated to providing exceptional dance education and performances to dancers of all ages and levels. Since 1971, we have been committed to our mission of preparing young dancers for a career in the performing arts, offering high-quality classes for recreational and professional adults, and presenting accessible, award-winning ballet performances for the entire region.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services, including ballet training, adult classes, summer programs, and performances. Our school-year programs cater to children aged 2-9, youth aged 8-12, and pre-professional students aged 11-18. We also provide MYB Extension classes for teens aged 12-18 and adult programs for students of all levels, from beginners to professionals. Our summer programs include classes for children, youth, and pre-professional students, as well as adult classes.

In addition to our dance programs, we also offer rentals of our state-of-the-art facilities, making it an ideal space for events and rehearsals. Our boutique has moved online, allowing dancers to purchase necessary attire and accessories from the comfort of their own homes.

Our History and Values

MYB was founded in the 1960s by Hortensia Fonseca, who began teaching ballet in her basement. As the school grew, it moved to a studio in Bethesda and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1971. Over the years, MYB has remained committed to its mission of providing exceptional dance education and making it accessible to dancers of all backgrounds.
