Your journey to healing starts here. Let us help you find your way.

At Amy Hermann Therapy, we believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling life, free from the constraints of pain, trauma, and mental health challenges. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I, Amy Hermann, have dedicated my career to helping individuals, children, adolescents, and families overcome their struggles and achieve their goals.

With over 15 years of experience in private practice in Santa Barbara, California, I have developed a comprehensive approach to psychotherapy that combines theoretical orientations from Humanistic-Experiential, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Family Systems therapies. My approach is grounded in the principles of warmth, acceptance, and compassion, with a focus on supporting the development of greater self-awareness and a clear, healthy, internal sense of what is best for each individual.

Services

At Amy Hermann Therapy, we offer a range of services to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Our expertise includes:

  • Individual Therapy: We provide one-on-one therapy sessions for adults, adolescents, and children aged 4 and up, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship problems, conflict resolution, and more.
  • Family Therapy: We work with families to address dysfunctional patterns, improve communication, and strengthen relationships.
  • Child and Adolescent Therapy: Our specialized approach for children and adolescents focuses on play therapy, using techniques like sandtray, clay, games, drawing, painting, and puppetry to help them express and process their emotions and conflicts.
  • Counseling: We offer counseling services to individuals, couples, and families, providing a safe and supportive space to explore life-changing events, trauma, and other challenges.

The Therapeutic Approach

At Amy Hermann Therapy, we strive to create a warm, accepting, and compassionate environment that fosters trust and openness. We work closely with each client to understand their unique needs and develop a personalized plan to address their challenges.

Theoretical Orientation

Our therapeutic approach is primarily Humanistic-Experiential, with an emphasis on present experience and anchoring it in body sensation and awareness. We draw on principles from Psychodynamic therapy to explore unconscious thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and motivations. Cognitive Behavioral therapy informs our approach to address distorted thought processes and behavior patterns, while Family Systems therapy helps us address dysfunctional patterns in the family that perpetuate individuals' symptoms.
