Experience the Power of Spirit Within

Our Purpose

The Movement Center is dedicated to the inclusive cultivation of the power of spirit that is the essence of every person. Our purpose is to provide a place for spiritual practice, refuge, and retreat, meditation, yoga, and education and training opportunities. We are an intentional community focused on serving each other, with many living in our ashram with Swami Chetanananda, our founder, spiritual teacher, and renowned guru.

Who We Are

We see each person as a unique expression of a universal creative energy. We welcome all, with open hearts, regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability. We invite you to make contact with your deepest self, develop a natural alignment between your essence and your daily experience, and live in a state of flow that will transform you and your entire life. In this place of genuine connection, compassion, and kindness automatically arise.

What We Offer

At The Movement Center, you'll find a variety of programs and services designed to support your spiritual growth and transformation. These include:

  • Daily meditation, chanting, and puja
  • Hatha yoga classes for students at all levels, ages, and body types
  • Healing practices to relieve disease and distress
  • Retreat programs with Swami Chetanananda and our extended community
  • Books and other products to inform and inspire you
  • Seva opportunities for giving back to what nourishes you

Our History and Lineage

Our spiritual lineage springs from Bhagavan Nityananda, a great mahasiddha who lived in Ganeshpuri, India, and his student, Swami Rudrananda (Rudi), one of the first Americans to bring eastern spirituality to this country. Swami Chetanananda is the current lineage holder and the spiritual director of The Movement Center.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the energetic resources needed for growth, and to help individuals unlock their full potential. We believe that Anything that grows requires energetic resources, and The Movement Center exists to provide them.

What You'll Find

Our meditation hall is saturated with the shakti of thousands of hours of practice; our spaces are filled with sacred images; our grounds are a peaceful oasis in the center of the city. In our spiritual yoga, we reach into a dimension of ourselves that transcends tension, turmoil, and trauma. We come to the understanding that everything is interconnected and that there is infinite abundance. We are filled with wonder and gratitude. This understanding changes the way we operate, so that we can live from a higher, finer place that affords the only real hope for change in our world.

Join Us

We invite you to join us on this path of growth, transformation, and spiritual evolution. Whether you're new to spiritual practice or have been on the path for many years, we welcome you with open hearts and open arms. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
