Our History
Our story begins in the 19th century, when Col. Joseph Chiles first settled in California. He was drawn to the area now known as Chiles Valley, which was then called "The High Valley". The native Wappo Indians welcomed Chiles and taught him the local language. He named the valley "Catacula", which translates to "Valley of the Oaks". Over the years, the valley was shaped by various owners, including the Keith family, who planted the first vineyards in 1974. In 2014, our current owners purchased the property and renamed it Maxville. Today, we continue the legacy of innovation and dedication to our craft.
