Our Rich History: Bringing New York-style Pizza to Seattle

Big Mario's Pizza has its roots in New York City, where Mario Vellotti arrived from Italy in 1964. He spent numerous years mastering the craft of making high-quality pizza while working in the city's prominent pizza establishments, including Sal's on Broome. Eventually, Mario partnered with his uncle and brother to open their pizza restaurants across New York City. With a desire to bring excellent-tasting pizza to the Pacific Northwest, he relocated to Seattle and founded Big Mario's Pizza, maintaining the Vellotti family's proud pizza-making legacy.
