Our Story
Pick Up Stix was founded by Charlie Zhang, a Chinese immigrant who arrived in the United States in 1982. Charlie had an idea: to open a restaurant that served flavorful Chinese food quickly and affordably. His vision was to adapt traditional Asian recipes to the American palate, reducing the oils and adding wine, vinegar, and soy sauce. The first Pick Up Stix restaurant opened in 1989 in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Over the years, our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction have helped us grow into a leading chain with over 50 locations in California.
