Security and Privacy Concerns
Some reviewers have raised serious concerns about the security and privacy of their accounts with ESL Federal Credit Union. One reviewer, Joshua Zayas, reported that the Chestnut location allowed someone else to deposit into his account, change his personal account information, and obtain his membership and account numbers. Another reviewer, Ether Shakur, has had her account constantly hacked, requiring her to repeatedly replace her debit cards.
Billing and Payment Issues
Several reviewers have reported issues with ESL's billing and payment processes. Lawrence Barnes warned that ESL's "Bill Pay" feature can result in the credit union taking money out of the payer's account even if the check is not cashed. Additionally, David Nashburn was denied a refinancing loan and was told that he needed a co-signer, despite having a long history of good standing loans with the credit union.
Poor Customer Service
Some reviewers have expressed frustration with ESL's customer service. P. S. reported that the drive-up service at the Chestnut location is very slow, while Juan Mercado was unhappy with the trust department's handling of his Supplemental Needs Trust.
Fraud and Predatory Practices
Anthony Curry reported that his niece was approved as a co-signer for a loan without his knowledge or consent, and believes that the loan may be fraudulent and predatory. He also questioned how ESL became the bank for the loan when none of the inquiries were from the credit union.
Positive Experience
One reviewer, Dwight Jones, had a positive experience with a representative named Phil who went above and beyond to help him fix issues with his business account.
