Carefree Getaways is owned and operated by Cindy Ward, a licensed real estate agent with extensive knowledge of the St. John island. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional service and ensuring that your vacation is nothing short of perfect. With our expertise in handling all aspects of your vacation, you can relax and enjoy the beauty of St. John while we take care of the details.
Rental Policies
Our villas are rented on a weekly basis (seven nights) plus 12.5% hotel tax. We also allow 5 or 6-night rentals during off-season dates. To secure your reservation, payment in the amount of 50% of the total rental is required with a non-refundable $35 reservation and $35 security deposit waiver fee, totaling $70. The balance of the rental money is due 60 days prior to arrival. Payments may be made by personal check, cashier's check, or certified bank check. We also accept credit card payments from VISA or MasterCard for an additional 7% fee. Last-minute rentals require payment by credit card or certified bank check.
Cancellation Policy
Should you need to cancel your reservation, a replacement rental must be obtained to receive a full refund. If no replacement rental is secured, no refund will be given. Cancellation fees may be applicable. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment.

Please note that rates are subject to change at any time. When your initial payment is received, your rate is locked in. St. John's economy is thriving, and new homes and condos are being built. Construction is prevalent on the island, and we appreciate your understanding in those areas where construction exists.

Poor Experience with Carefree Getaways
Many reviewers have shared their disappointing experiences with Carefree Getaways, a company that allegedly provides rental services for villas. These issues stem from poor communication and misrepresentation.
Lack of Transparency and Follow-through
One customer, Loreto Sky, was thrilled to rent the same villa as their previous experience, but things took a turn for the worse. Upon arrival, the greeter, Tori, failed to escort them to the villa, citing that they knew the way themselves. When they realized the jacuzzi wasn't working, they were told it would be fixed within two days, only to be met with more excuses and promises that were not kept.
Misrepresentation and Deception
Carefree Getaways allegedly changed the villa's listing on their website, stating it had a kids' pool instead of a jacuzzi, which the reviewer believes is a scam to deceive customers. Furthermore, they claimed to not advertise the jacuzzi, which was a major selling point for the villa.
Inconsistent and Unprofessional Staff
The staff's behavior was erratic, with one employee responding rudely to the reviewer's concerns about the jacuzzi's operation. Another review highlights an employee, Elly, who is described as the "accounting God, " but there is no context or relevance provided.
