Highland Playschool is a private child care learning center located in Highland, Maryland, that focuses on the Reggio-Emilia approach. We offer year-round programs for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, and we are committed to providing the highest level of care and education for your child in a warm, nurturing, and safe environment. Our aim is to create a feeling of acceptance and sense of belonging, enabling each child to feel safe and secure in order to learn and grow to their fullest potential. We serve Highland, Clarksville, Columbia, Olney, Howard County, Montgomery County, Frederick County, and the surrounding areas.

At Highland Playschool, we believe that every child is unique and capable of learning in their own way. We provide opportunities for both learning and play-based activities, using age-appropriate, hands-on activities. Our approach respects children for the individuals that they are, and we recognize that each child develops at his or her own rate. We are passionate about fostering a love for learning in every child and encourage their interests and passions through hands-on experiences, making learning fun, and finding their learning style. By creating a classroom community of learners and having our staff model our willingness and excitement to learn, we hope to inspire a lifelong love for learning in each child.

Meet Our Staff

Our staff is highly qualified and dedicated to working directly with parents and families to support each child's social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development. We believe that the atmosphere at Highland Playschool should be encouraging and conducive to a child's individual needs, learning, and overall development. We truly care about the children within our care!

Our Director, Mrs. Kelly, has been with Highland Playschool since the start. She has been in the childcare field for over 16 years, including running her own in-home childcare for 8 years and managing a Goddard school for 8 years. Mrs. Kelly is currently finishing up her associates degree and has many certifications in the field. She is passionate about providing a safe and loving environment for your family.

Programs

At Highland Playschool, we offer a range of programs to meet the needs of every child.

• Infants: 6 weeks - 12 months. We provide a rich learning environment for your infant, with exploration and multi-sensory activities. Our infant classrooms have a ratio of 1:3.
• Toddlers: 12-24 months. Our toddler classroom has a ratio of 1:3, providing a safe and stimulating environment for your child to learn and grow.
• Two-Year Olds: 24-36 months. Our Two-Year-Old classroom has a ratio of 1:6. We offer a balance of structured and unstructured activities to support your child's developing independence and social skills.
• Preschool: 3-5 years. Our Preschool classroom has a ratio of 1:10. We focus on preparing your child for kindergarten, with activities designed to promote cognitive, language, and fine motor skills.
