East Columbia Preschool

At East Columbia Preschool, we believe that the teacher, parents, and child all play a vital role in the education of young children. Our cooperative preschool has been providing a nurturing and educational environment for preschoolers in Howard County since 1974. Our state-approved curriculum is endorsed by the Maryland State Department of Education, and we take pride in our experienced and dedicated staff, with a combined total of over 30 years of service to our school.

The Co-Op Experience

As a cooperative preschool, we involve our parents in the educational process through various opportunities for involvement. Parents participate in the classroom, attend regular meetings, and serve on committees or the Executive Board. We also rely on our parents to assist in fundraising events and participate in housekeeping sessions to keep our school running smoothly. This collaborative effort enables us to provide a comprehensive and engaging education for our students.

Programs

We offer a range of programs designed to cater to the unique needs and abilities of our students. From our morning and afternoon classes to our specialty programs, we strive to provide a comprehensive education that prepares our students for kindergarten and beyond.

Morning 3s

Our three-day morning class for students turning 3 by December 31, 2024, meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. This program offers a traditional cooperative experience, with parents assisting in the classroom and participating in school activities.

Morning 4s

Our three-day morning class for students turning 4 by December 31, 2024, meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. This program also offers a traditional cooperative experience, with parents assisting in the classroom and participating in school activities.

Afternoon 4s

Our Afternoon 4s program offers a more flexible version of the cooperative model, with co-op participation optional. However, all families help with classroom clean-up on a rotating basis as the Clean Up Helper.
