At Calvary Preschool, we believe that learning should be a joyful and engaging experience for young children. Our private non-profit, non-sectarian preschool is located in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz, offering a full curriculum that fosters curiosity and creativity in children from ages 2 to 5 years old.
Our Philosophy
We are dedicated to providing a safe, child-centered learning environment where children can develop at their own pace. Our program emphasizes individualized, non-competitive learning experiences that promote self-esteem, confidence, and a love for discovery. We believe that every child is unique and deserves a personalized approach to learning.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to nurture children in every aspect of their development, including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. We incorporate sensory experiences, such as working in our life lab garden, where children can explore and learn about recycling and reusing. Our field trips to local attractions like the museum, beach, Seymour Laboratory, post office, and library provide valuable learning experiences and opportunities for children to learn about the world around them.
Our Daily Schedule
Our daily schedule is designed to provide a balance of structured learning activities and free play time. Our daily routine includes circle time, snack time, individual group time, and outdoor play time. We also make time for art, music, movement, stories, and songs, as well as regular nap/rest times for our younger children.
Our Values
At Calvary Preschool, we value the importance of forming strong relationships with our families and community. We believe that every child deserves a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters growth and development. We strive to create a sense of belonging and community among our students, teachers, and families.
Testimonials
Our parents have expressed their gratitude and appreciation for our preschool and its values. "Throughout the years Calvary Preschool has distinguished itself by its ready, warm availability for collaborative, collegial relationships, by its flexibility, by generous empathetic responses to the needs of both parents and young children with whom they are involved, " says Betsy Isbister, a parent. Another parent, Peggy Dolgenos, affirms, "We still feel a strong bond and affection for the preschool that helped my three children feel so confident in their early years."
Tuition
We offer flexible tuition options to accommodate different family needs. Our tuition includes a non-refundable $100 enrollment fee and a monthly donation of $20 for supplies. We also offer a 10% discount for siblings and accept Human Resources and Voucher Project programs.
