Our Story

Samantha, our culinary heart and soul, has been immersed in the world of food since her adolescence. Her journey began as a dishwasher at The MacDowell Colony, where she discovered the magic that happens in a kitchen. This passion, however, was ignited much earlier, fueled by childhood memories of rolling gingerbread dough and tending the garden alongside her beloved grandmother. Inspired by the stories and flavors of diverse cultures, Samantha revels in exploring the world through its vibrant cuisines, embracing the fusion of ingredients and techniques that create unique culinary narratives. Dedicated to supporting local farmers and the principles of sustainable, seasonal cooking, Samantha brings her expertise and enthusiasm to every dish that leaves our kitchen.

Silas, our dedicated farmer and co-creator, was born into a world of ethical food production. As a third-generation New Hampshire farmer, he grew up working alongside his family at Sunnyfield Farm in Peterborough, raising grass-fed beef, milk, pork, chicken, and lamb. His entire career has been dedicated to treating every bite of food with the utmost respect, from pasture to plate. Silas' passion for food extends beyond the farm. His artistic talent and craftsmanship have translated into years of experience as a builder, earning him a distinguished apprenticeship at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine.

Together, Samantha and Silas bring their unique talents and shared love of good food to Fiddleheads Cafe. They are a team that understands that the most delicious meals come from ingredients grown with care, prepared with passion, and shared with loved ones.
