Empowering Parents and Children Through Education and Collaboration

Welcome to Delaware Cooperative Preschool, where we believe in the power of early childhood education and the importance of community involvement. Founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated parents, our cooperative model is built on a spirit of volunteerism and a commitment to providing equal opportunities for all children.

Our preschool offers a unique environment where children can explore, learn, and grow alongside their peers and caregivers. We are proud to provide a mixed-age, Montessori-inspired classroom setting that fosters social and cognitive development. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and engaging, with a focus on social, gross and fine motor, language, and self-help skills.

At DCP, we believe that education is a collaborative effort. That's why we encourage all members to participate in our decision-making processes, from serving on committees to helping with fundraising events. This collective approach creates a nurturing and joyful environment for families, staff, and children alike.

Our Board of Directors, composed of member volunteers, is elected annually to ensure that our school remains responsive to the needs of our community. Quarterly meetings provide a platform for important discussions and updates on committee accomplishments.

Our Programs

We offer two main programs: Toddler Time for children aged 2-3, focusing on social, gross and fine motor, language, and self-help skills; and our Classroom Program for children aged 3-5, emphasizing social, cognitive, and emotional development through play-based learning.

Both programs are designed to be engaging and interactive, with experienced teachers and dedicated volunteers guiding the children. Our small class sizes ensure personalized attention and a safe, accepting environment for every child to thrive.

Community Involvement

As a cooperative, we believe that community involvement is essential to our success. By enrolling, you become a member of our community and are expected to participate in 2-3 General Membership Meetings, help with fundraising events, and serve on a committee. This not only enhances your child's educational experience but also fosters a sense of belonging and shared responsibility among our members.
