LEARNING THROUGH PLAY SINCE 1938

Welcome to Millbrae Nursery Preschool, a nonprofit cooperative preschool that has been providing a nurturing and educational environment for children aged 2-5 and their families since 1938. Our commitment to Early Education is reflected in our mission to create a stimulating, wholesome, and fun environment for the children, parents, and families of our community.

Our Mission

At Millbrae Nursery Preschool, we believe that the early years of a child's life are the most crucial for their development. Our mission is to be actively involved in the creation of a safe and social educational experience that will lay the foundation for the children's future academic learning. We believe that play is the most effective tool for learning during the pre-school years and strive to provide an environment that encourages exploration and creativity.

Our Philosophy

Our curriculum is based on the idea that children learn best through play. Play functions as the foundational element for all academic learning children will experience later on in life. Play contributes to all forms of learning - physical, social, emotional, and intellectual - by stimulating the child's ability to acquire and process information. Learning centers in each of the classrooms have been developed with this essential idea in mind.

Parent Responsibility

Millbrae Nursery Preschool is a nonprofit school owned and operated by the parents of the children currently enrolled. Families manage the school's administration, finances, housekeeping, and building maintenance. Families members also regularly assist the school's credentialed teachers in the classroom. Families are entrusted to the care and well-being of the program so that it will continue to thrive and operate for future generations.

What is a Co-op?

We are a cooperative preschool, which means that the school is owned and operated by the current families enrolled at MNS. A large part of being in a cooperative is being active within the school community and there are many ways for parents and families to do that at MNS, some of them are required and some are voluntary. Our families have a responsibility and obligation for maintaining the school and being attentive guardians for the school's future.

Our Staff

Our team of qualified teachers and aides are dedicated to providing the best possible education and care for your child. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the classroom, and are committed to building a strong and supportive relationship with you and your child. Our teachers and aides receive ongoing training and professional development to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in Early Education.
