At the New Orleans Ballet Theatre, we are dedicated to promoting the art of ballet in our community and beyond. With a rich history spanning over 20 years, our mission is to be the premier resident ballet company of the Gulf South, renowned for world-class performances, innovative choreography, and outstanding professional training. We strive to enrich our community and expand access to dance, making it a vital part of our city's cultural fabric.

Our Story

Founded in 2002 by Gregory and Marjorie Schramel, our company has evolved into Louisiana's premier ballet company, offering a platform for local dancers to pursue a full-time career in ballet. Over the years, we have expanded our reach, providing excellent concert dance and dance education to New Orleans residents across all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to meet the needs of our community, sharing and representing the unique interplay of multi-ethnic and creative influences that make up our vibrant city.

Our Services

We offer a range of services, including:

• Professional dance performances, featuring classical and contemporary works
• Dance education programs, including classes for children and adults, as well as a youth program and adult division
• Community outreach programs, engaging with after-school programs and non-profit organizations to offer dance to underserved youth in New Orleans
• The Schramel Conservatory of Dance, our official school, providing training at the highest level
• Summer intensive programs, mini dance camps, and recital registration
