"Play is the highest form of research." - Albert Einstein
Wholesome Horizons Learning Center is a licensed home child care and preschool located in Bolingbrook, IL, convenient to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55). We provide a structured, nurturing environment at an affordable cost. Our center has been specifically designed to cater to the needs of children, from infants and toddlers to preschoolers and school-age children, providing them with an environment where they can explore through play and develop physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
At Wholesome Horizons Learning Center, we understand the importance of play and research in child development. That's why we place a serious emphasis on play at all ages. Children are allowed a great amount of free play time during the day in which to stretch their imaginations. Weather permitting, children will spend time outdoors every day, exploring our large fenced-in backyard with a swingset, sandbox, playhouse and climber, ride on toys for the driveway, and a variety of other outdoor activities.
Our Curriculum
Our curriculum introduces skills that will ensure success in kindergarten and beyond. We use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and to keep children engaged and excited about learning. Our structured curriculum includes lessons on literacy, math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education. We also incorporate social-emotional learning into our curriculum, helping children develop important skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
For infants and toddlers, our goal is to make the transition away from home as easy and natural as possible, both for the child and for parents. Each child's schedule and program will be individualized to support their needs, and will be created and monitored with input from parents. Our experienced teachers work closely with parents to ensure a smooth transition and to provide the best possible care for each child.
Our Staff
Our staff is made up of experienced educators who are passionate about working with children. Our director, Tracy Lopez, is a licensed elementary teacher with the Illinois State Board of Education and has a School-Age and Youth Development Credential (Level 5), Early Childhood Education Credential (Level 5), and Family Child Care Credential (Level 2) from the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (INCCRRA) and Gateways to Opportunity.
