Northfield Kennels

Northfield Kennels is a modern boarding and training center situated amidst sprawling countryside, located just three miles outside of Northfield, MN. Our boarding facility is designed to provide a safe, clean, and stress-free environment for your dog. Our roomy 5'x10' kennels offer ample space for your dog to stretch out, complete with comfortable beds and a never-ending supply of clean, fresh water. Our indoor kennels are climate-controlled, with heated floors, overhead radiant heat, and central air to ensure your dog stays comfortable and healthy. With 10 acres of green country property, we provide abundant exercise space, including a pond for dogs who love to swim.

Our Experience

Northfield Kennels is owned and founded by Sam Daly, who started retriever training in the 1980s. With over 30 years of experience, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge to Northfield Kennels. Sam's extensive background includes deploying with the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines to Afghanistan in 2012 and again in 2013 with 2MEF as a civilian contractor, training explosive detection dogs. Upon returning home, Sam founded the non-profit organization, Believet, which provides highly trained service dogs free of charge to disabled military veterans.

Our Services

We offer a range of services, including boarding, training, and breeding. Our training programs cater to individual needs, covering basic obedience, upland and waterfowl hunting, puppy bird and gun training, basic obedience, and shed hunting. We also offer intermediate and advanced skills training, as well as competition in AKC retriever performance events.

Training Programs

Our training programs are designed to build a strong bond between you and your dog. Our Basic Obedience program focuses on teaching your dog to be a good citizen in your home and in public. This program covers the basic commands, including sit, come to call, ignore distractions, place training, off-leash training, and other custom behaviors. We also offer Bird and Gun training, which introduces your dog to retrieving birds and creates a positive association with the gun.

Believet

Believet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that trains service dogs for disabled military veterans, free of charge. Believet adopts prospective service dogs from shelters and by donation, and trains them for assistive behaviors for PTSD, MST, TBI, and mobility impairing disabilities.
