Neponset Valley Counseling Center (NVCC) is a professional counseling center located in Canton, MA. At NVCC, we are dedicated to enhancing the functioning, effectiveness, and productivity of individuals, couples, and families. Our team of experienced and compassionate therapists provides a range of services designed to support personal growth, improve relationships, and resolve conflicts.

Individual Therapy

At NVCC, we offer individual therapy for adults, adolescents, and children. Our approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, addressing painful emotions, self-defeating behaviors, and difficult life transitions. Our therapist, Marsha L. Getter, provides a safe and supportive environment for clients to discover their inner resources, enabling them to solve personal and relational problems, and enrich all aspects of their lives.

Couples Therapy and Family Therapy

Couples and families can benefit from working together to solve interpersonal and parenting challenges. At NVCC, we provide couples therapy and family therapy, which are particularly helpful for those whose lives are impacted by relationship issues, separation and divorce, step-parenting, and the blending of families. By working together, we can find satisfying solutions that benefit everyone involved.

Group Therapy

Group therapy significantly deepens and broadens individuals' self-understanding through interaction with others facing similar challenges. At NVCC, we offer group therapy that enables people to help each other as they are helping themselves, increasing interpersonal effectiveness at home, at work, and in other areas of life.

Family Reunification

Family reunification is a process to restore a relationship between a parent and a child who are estranged. At NVCC, we provide a safe and supportive environment to discuss and resolve the conflicts or disputes that underlie the estrangement, with the goal of restoring a healthy parent-child relationship.

Specialized Services

In addition to our general services, we offer specialized services, including:

• Guardian ad Litem (GAL): A GAL is appointed by the judge in family court proceedings involving child custody and visitation. The GAL gathers and reports factual data regarding these proceedings to the judge and may offer clinical opinions and objectives.
• Parenting Coordination: When parenting communication is highly conflicted and/or ineffective, a parenting coordinator can protect children by assisting parents in the implementation of their Parenting Plan, while fostering safe, healthy, and meaningful parent-child relationships.
• Mediation of Parenting Plans: We work with parents mediating the development of their Parenting Plan, guiding them to make decisions that are both developmentally appropriate for their children and fair to each other.
• Expert Witness: Our therapist, Marsha L. Getter, is qualified to be called as an expert witness when educational needs are relevant to court proceedings.
• Clinical Supervision: We offer clinical supervision to LCSW's seeking to meet requirements for independent licensure as well as other clinicians seeking to enhance their clinical skills.
