Your Trusted Partner for Senior and Disability Support in New Hampshire
Founded in 1984, The CareGivers has dedicated over four decades to empowering the elderly and disabled in the Greater Manchester and Nashua regions. Our volunteer-driven model addresses critical gaps in non-medical support, offering transportation, grocery assistance, free food packages, and companionship to those on fixed incomes or lacking traditional support systems. As a program of Catholic Charities NH since 2018, we combine institutional stability with grassroots responsiveness, ensuring clients maintain independence and dignity in their homes.

Our 25+ year history reflects a commitment to innovation, evidenced by supplemental programs like Caring Cupboard and Caring Rides, which have served tens of thousands. We operate transparently, relying on community generosity to sustain free services, and maintain rigorous volunteer screening to ensure client safety and service quality.

Services
Transportation Services
Caring Rides provides door-to-door transportation for medical appointments, pharmacy visits, and social outings. Our trained volunteers use personal vehicles to ensure safe travel for homebound seniors and disabled individuals. This service fills critical gaps for those unable to access public transportation, enabling clients to maintain healthcare routines and social connections essential for well-being.
Free Food Packages
The Caring Cupboard program delivers nutritionally balanced food packages directly to clients' homes. Volunteers manage food sorting, packing, and delivery through a coordinated warehouse system. This service addresses food insecurity among low-income seniors and disabled individuals who may lack mobility or financial resources to maintain adequate nutrition independently.
Reassurance Calls
Daily or weekly phone calls verify clients' well-being and provide social interaction. Volunteers conduct structured check-ins to identify urgent needs while combating isolation. This service offers peace of mind for clients living alone, serving as an early warning system for health emergencies through consistent communication patterns.
Friendly Visits
Trained volunteers provide in-home companionship through scheduled visits. These interactions include conversation, recreational activities, and emotional support to combat loneliness among isolated seniors. The service strengthens community bonds while addressing mental health needs associated with prolonged social isolation in elderly populations.
Grocery Assistance
Volunteers assist with grocery shopping and delivery for clients unable to shop independently. This service includes budgeting guidance, item selection, and transportation of purchases to clients' homes. It ensures access to fresh food and household essentials while maintaining clients' autonomy in managing daily living expenses.
