Since December 1979, Samurai Japanese Restaurant has been a cornerstone of North County San Diego's culinary scene. Founded by David Song, father of current owner Charlie Song, we pioneered Japanese cuisine in the region as the first dedicated Japanese restaurant. Our commitment to authenticity and quality led us to recruit sushi chefs directly from Japan, establishing a legacy of excellence. Over decades, we expanded from a modest sushi bar to a comprehensive dining destination featuring Teppan Yaki, a cocktail lounge, and private event spaces.Despite challenges like our 1986 relocation after a fire, we've maintained three generations of loyal customers who consider us family. Today, we continue serving premium Japanese dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients while preserving the traditions that made us a local institution.
