Transforming Lives with Compassion and Empirically-Based Care

The Palo Alto Psychology Group is a partnership of Stanford-trained clinicians dedicated to evidenced-based treatment. We specialize in a range of clinical approaches to the treatment of various mood, anxiety, and related disorders. Our team of experts works together to set treatment goals and measure your treatment progress throughout our work together. By having multiple well-trained therapists on staff, we attempt to connect you with the one that is most appropriate for you and your particular concern. We consult regularly with one another and continually strive to provide empirically-based, high-quality care.

Our Approach

We take a collaborative approach to treatment, working closely with our clients to set measurable treatment goals and track progress throughout our work together. Our clinicians are knowledgeable about the unique challenges of living and working in Silicon Valley and focus their work on navigating the specific challenges individuals confront in this area. We use a range of empirically-validated treatments, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), to provide clients with noticeable symptom reduction and enhanced quality of life in a relatively short amount of time.

Our Services

We specialize in treating a range of clinical problems, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, eating disorders, life stress issues, grief counseling, relationship and family problems, and more. Our practitioners specialize in both individual and couples therapy, as well as unilateral family therapy. We use active, practical, and engaged forms of therapy that focus on making positive changes in one's current life. We also provide homework assignments collaboratively with our clients to make therapy as applicable to their daily life as possible.

Meet Our Team

Our team is led by Dr. Jason Angel, a Bay Area native who specializes in cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) and dialectical behavioral treatment (DBT) for mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Angel received his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and his Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology from Harvard University. He has worked in clinics in the Boston area, including the Bipolar Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders Institute, and the Klarman Eating Disorders Center at Mclean Hospital. He is fluent in Spanish and frequently conducts therapy in Spanish.

The reviewer, Peter Garcia, shares a negative experience with the psychologist, giving it a 1-star rating. The psychologist's credentials from top schools are not enough to make up for their poor bedside manner and lack of emotional intelligence.

Lack of Emotional Intelligence
