Our Mission and Vision
At VAMHAR, our mission is to provide recovery leadership from your house to the White House. We believe that recovery from addiction and mental health conditions is not only possible but also essential for individuals to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Our vision is to promote mental wellness in Vermont by providing evidence-based and strength-based practices that support all paths to recovery.
Our Founders and Legacy
Founded in 1939 by the Montpelier Ladies Garden Club, VAMHAR has a rich history of advocating for mental health and addiction recovery. Our founders recognized the need for a more compassionate and comprehensive approach to mental health, long before it became a national conversation. Today, we continue to build on this legacy by providing advocacy and professional training to Vermont's workforce.
Our Programs and Services
At VAMHAR, we offer a range of programs and services designed to support individuals in recovery from addiction and mental health conditions. These include:
- Recovery Coach Academy: A comprehensive training program for recovery coaches, designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals in recovery.
- Workforce Development: We provide training and resources to support employers in creating Recovery Friendly Workplaces, where individuals in recovery can thrive.
- Training and Events: We offer a range of training programs and events focused on addiction and mental health recovery, including our annual conference and workshops on topics such as trauma-informed care and harm reduction.
