Caladesi Steel Band

Caladesi Steel Band is a cherished institution in the tapestry of Florida's musical landscape. We are a collection of passionate musicians dedicated to sharing the vibrant sounds of the steel drum with audiences throughout central Florida. Our journey began in the mid-1990s when founder Dave Holmstrand and Johnny Lowery joined forces, their shared love for the steel drum sparking a musical collaboration that continues to resonate today. They had honed their skills together as members of the Busch Gardens steel drum band, bringing their infectious energy and musical expertise to entertain guests throughout the state and beyond.

Caladesi Steel Band's history is interwoven with the rich musical heritage of the Tampa Bay area. Both Dave and Johnny have been vital members of the prestigious Tampa Bay Steel Orchestra, which has graced stages such as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Mahaffey Theatre, Ruth Eckerd Hall, and the Palladium Theatre. Collaborating with the Florida Orchestra for special pops concerts, the Tampa Bay Steel Orchestra brought its unique blend of traditional and contemporary melodies to a wider audience, establishing itself as a cornerstone of Florida's vibrant musical scene.
