Welcome to Psychological Centers

Psychological Centers was a network of psychological expertise dedicated to improving real-world problems. We were committed to providing evidence-based behavioral health services that helped community members achieve better health, relationships, home lives, work performance, and school success. Our services were tailored to each client's needs and based on scientific evidence about what would be most effective.

Our Services

At Psychological Centers, we provided a broad spectrum of behavioral health expertise to help communities solve their problems. Our services were guided by our commitment to client and community needs, effectiveness, scientifically proven approaches, and the expertise of our staff. We understood that effective services required understanding and respecting the needs, goals, and challenges of our clients, as well as supporting and encouraging the growth of our staff.

We offered a range of services organized into centers of expertise, including:

• Center for Infant and Early Childhood Behavioral Health Services

Our services were provided in various settings, including homes, schools, doctors' offices, community agencies, medical practices, and other everyday settings, as well as in our offices in Providence and Warren. We also offered consultation, clinical evaluations, and specific interventions designed according to the best available evidence for effectiveness.

At Psychological Centers, we relied on our flexible structure to drive our responsiveness to community needs. We worked closely with community organizations and the populations they serve to identify problems that needed to be addressed. We then consulted the scientific literature on how best to address those problems and looked for affordable ways to fund best practices. We tailored these approaches to be most acceptable and best suited to the relevant community populations.

Our Approach

At Psychological Centers, we blended academic and community-service ideals. We believed in the importance of science in practice and viewed formulation as a critical tool for effective service delivery. We took a strategic approach to addressing community-identified problems and worked closely with other agencies and community partners to enhance our impact.

Unfortunately, Psychological Centers ceased operations in May 2013, when the inability to maintain our quality of care without undue sacrifice by staff made it no longer reasonable to continue. The organization we arranged to take over our staff, contracts, and operations was unable to sustain our services, despite immediate profitability and continued good outcome data starting in the first year.

Despite our closure, we remain proud of our commitment to providing evidence-based behavioral health services that helped community members achieve important real-world outcomes. We are confident that our approach to blending academic and community-service ideals and our commitment to scientifically proven approaches and effective service delivery had a positive impact on the communities we served.
