Opulent Santa Fe is a premier fine jewelry and furs boutique, offering a wide range of services and products to our customers. Our story began in 2003 when Bret and Suzanne moved to Santa Fe from Portland, OR and Houston, TX. In 2006, they opened Queen's Ransom in The DeVargas Center, featuring fine jewelry, clothing, and furs. Over the past twelve years, we have established ourselves as the only Fur service in the state of New Mexico that provides fur storage on-premise, cleaning, glazing, remodeling, and repairs for owned furs, as well as the sale of new and vintage furs.

In 2018, we embarked on a new chapter and transformed into Opulent Santa Fe. Our customers can still expect the same level of excellent service and quality they have come to rely on, while also discovering new ventures into women's outerwear and accessories, all accessible through the ease of online shopping.

Our Team

Suzanne Culbertson, one of our founders, has been in every phase of the fashion world for over 40 years. She designed and manufactured a women's clothing line sold to the Southwest's premier women's boutique stores, designed fur items for Gorsuch in Vail, CO, and was with Saks Fifth Avenue in fine jewelry, clothing, and furs for 18 years. Suzanne's knowledge of furs and her connection to the finest furriers in the United States allows her to provide customers with outstanding fur services, resale, custom designs, and care instructions for any type of fur. She has put together and trained a team of fur specialists in Santa Fe, ensuring that most of the work is done locally in-house. Suzanne's passion lies in taking old furs and giving them a new life story by turning them into something new such as handbags, scarves, vests, or any other custom design to fit the customer's individual preference.

Bret Houston, our other founder, is GIA certified as a Bench Master Jeweler and appraiser. His professional life has always been focused on fine jewelry, from owning a manufacturing company in Oregon to being a regional sales manager for an estate jewelry company out of Palm Beach, FL, working with Saks Fifth Avenue. Bret is genuinely a concierge jeweler who values jewelry as an investment. With his superb color sense and connection to some of the best suppliers of fine diamonds and color stones in the world, he can provide customers with stunning jewelry of the highest quality. Through his work in the community, Bret has earned the reputation of being Santa Fe's jeweler to the "stars!" Bret's knowledge, passion, and creativity bring the customers' experience to a whole new level, whether it be creating a custom jewelry design or a simple repair, no job is too grand or too small.
