Heart in Balance Counseling Center is a non-profit, 501(C)3 training and counseling center located in Oakland, California. Founded in 2004 by Patricia E. Craven and Mary Owens, the center's vision is to provide an accessible and inclusive environment where individuals, couples, and families can find support and resources for personal growth and healing.

Our Approach to Mental Wellness

We believe mental health care should be accessible and affordable to everyone. Our team of experienced therapists utilize various therapeutic approaches to work with clients, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of their lives. Our approaches include:

• Integrative Therapy: Combining traditional talk therapy with non-verbal and non-analytic perspectives for holistic healing.
• Mindfulness & Somatic Practices: Techniques like mindfulness meditation, yoga therapy, and somatic experiencing to reduce stress, manage anxiety, and improve physical and emotional well-being.
• Creative Expression: Art & Play Therapy, Authentic Movement, and Dream Work to express emotions and explore underlying issues in new ways.
